Day by Day Moon Location / Hours of Dark Sky
Information about the Moon is provided for every night of the month. For
example days '6-7' means from the evening of the 6th to the morning of the
7th. It will mention when the Moon rises or sets during the night. Only on
rare occasions will the Moon rise and set during one single night. It also
indicates which constellation the Moon is in at 12am EST (1am EDT). The
co-ordinates, angle with the Sun, magnitude and illumination are also shown
as of 12am EST (1am EDT) on the date listed.
The most important piece of information provided with the Moon is the amount
of total darkness available for dark sky observing when the Moon is not in
the sky. The beginning and end of the astronomical night along with the
moonrise or moonset are used for this calculation. This is something that is
very useful in planning deep sky observing sessions.

Events
- The Moon is 9.5 degrees south of Saturn at 11pm on
the 2nd.
- On the 3rd at 5am, the Moon is 1.8 degrees
northeast of galaxy M104 in Virgo.
- At 5am on the 7th, the Moon is 3 degrees southwest
of globular cluster M80, 3 degrees west of globular M4 and 4.2 degrees
west of Antares (alpha, mag. 1.03) in Scorpius.
- The Moon is 0.8 degree east of globular cluster
M19 in Ophiuchus on the 8th at 5am.
- On the 9th at 6am, the Moon is 1.8 degrees south
of the Lagoon nebula M8 in Sagittarius.
- At 9pm on the 18th, the Moon is 3.8 degrees
southeast of galaxy M74 in Pisces.
- The Moon is 2.7 degrees west of the Pleiades
cluster M45 in Taurus at 7pm on the 21st.
- There is an occultation of star 36 (mag. 5.93) in
Taurus by the Moon on the 21st from 9:31pm until 10:37pm.
- From 10:20pm on the 23rd until midnight, the Moon
occults open cluster M35 in Gemini.
- On the 25th at 10pm, the Moon is 5.5 degrees south
of Mars.
- The Moon is 4.6 degrees southwest of the Beehives
cluster M44 in Cancer on the 26th at 4am.
- At 8pm on the 26th, the Moon is 4.7 degrees
northeast of open cluster M67 in Cancer.
