Foymount Observing Site

At 1830 feet high, Foymount is at the highest populated point in Ontario. Its peaceful and scenic rolling hills overlook Lake Clear. Foymount is an excellent and rewarding get-away into the wilderness and fresh air. The combination of high altitude and extremely dark skies make this an ultimate weekend outing. The OAOG members have been granted permission to setup on a piece of land, owned by Rock Mallin, and specifically intended for astronomical activities. For access to this site, please contact Rock (adave@cyberus.ca) for instructions.

Please note that no facilities are present (with the exception of an out-house). Be sure you have all supplies (Camping, water, food, etc...) you need ahead of time.

45.431089 N, 77.304583 or 45° 25' 51.92" N, 77° 18' 16.50" W (these work in google maps/earth adjustments may be needed for different GPS units)

How to get there

- At Renfrew, take hwy 132 and follow for about 30 km
- Turn right on hwy 41 (north) and follow for about 1 km
- Turn left on Opeongo rd and follow to stop sign (25 km)
- Turn left on Foymount rd, and another left after 0.5 km
- Look for the signs to find us!
